Description

The Craftsman - Practical and aesthetically aware

Overview

The SLI personality type, also known as 'The Craftsman', is characterized by a distinctive cognitive function stack that shapes their behavior and thought processes. In the Ego block, their dominant function is Introverted Sensing (Si), which drives their constant focus on physical comfort, harmony, and quality in their immediate environment. They are deeply attuned to sensory experiences and excel at creating comfortable, aesthetically pleasing spaces. This is supported by their auxiliary function, Extraverted Thinking (Te), which allows them to efficiently gather and apply practical information.

Super-Ego Block

In the Super-ego block, SLIs have Introverted Intuition (Ni) as their role function and Extraverted Feeling (Fe) as their vulnerable function. They may struggle with long-term planning and can find it stressful to think too far into the future. SLIs also have difficulty with emotional expression and managing group dynamics, often appearing unemotional or stoic.

Super-Id Block

The Super-id block contains Extraverted Intuition (Ne) as the suggestive function and Introverted Feeling (Fi) as the mobilizing function. SLIs are attracted to new ideas and possibilities presented by others, often having a hidden 'goofy' side that appreciates novelty. They also aspire to form close personal relationships and develop a stronger sense of their own values and feelings.

Id Block

In the Id block, SLIs have Extraverted Sensing (Se) as the ignoring function and Introverted Thinking (Ti) as the demonstrative function. While capable of assertiveness when necessary, they generally prefer to avoid conflict and maintain a peaceful environment. They have strong analytical abilities and can be quite skilled at working with logical systems and concepts.

Subtypes

SLIs with SP9 tendencies channel their Si-Te energy into a strong focus on physical comfort, routine, and the satisfaction of basic needs. They have a deep need for comfort and security in their physical environment, often having 'bigger bodies' and 'a bigger appetite'. These SLIs are marked by their tendency to substitute physical comforts for emotional or spiritual fulfillment, potentially engaging in 'all kinds of substitutes for being'. They can be quite stubborn and resistant to change, often developing elaborate routines and habits that provide a sense of security and comfort.

SLIs with SP5 tendencies focus their Si-Te energy on creating and maintaining a safe, controlled personal environment. They have a deep need for 'finding refuge' and creating 'high walls that separate you from a world that can invade you'. These SLIs are marked by their tendency to 'limit their needs and desires,' believing that each desire could potentially lead to a state of dependency. They can be quite resourceful and strategic in managing their lives, always looking for ways to maximize efficiency and minimize energy expenditure. SP5 SLIs often have a rich inner world and may be drawn to intellectual pursuits or hobbies that can be enjoyed in solitude.
