Cognitive Functions
Description
Innovative and strategic thinker
Overview
The ILE personality type is characterized by a distinctive cognitive function stack that shapes their behavior and thought processes. In the Ego block, their dominant function is Extraverted Intuition (Ne), which drives their constant exploration of possibilities and new ideas. They are curious, open-minded individuals who are drawn to understand different possibilities and allow new potential things to happen. This is supported by their auxiliary function, Introverted Thinking (Ti), which helps them analyze and create logical frameworks for their innovative thoughts. Together, these conscious and valued functions make ILEs natural theorists and system builders, always seeking to explain how everything fits together.
Super-Ego Block
In the Super-ego block, ILEs have Extraverted Sensing (Se) as their role function and Introverted Feeling (Fi) as their vulnerable function. These conscious but not valued functions represent areas of difficulty for ILEs. They may struggle with being tough or confrontational (Se), finding it draining to sustain willpower for materialistic goals. They have an even harder time with personal value judgments and maintaining close emotional bonds (Fi), often finding it difficult to acknowledge personal attitudes towards others or maintain long-term relationships.
Super-Id Block
The Super-id block contains Introverted Sensing (Si) as the suggestive function and Extraverted Feeling (Fe) as the activating function. These unconscious but valued functions represent areas of aspiration and growth for ILEs. They often need help with physical comfort and day-to-day needs (Si), and desire to create positive emotional atmospheres and connect with others (Fe), though they may struggle to do so appropriately at first.
Id Block
Lastly, in the Id block, ILEs have Introverted Intuition (Ni) as the ignoring function and Extraverted Thinking (Te) as the demonstrative function. These unconscious and not valued functions operate in the background. ILEs tend to resist narrowing down possibilities (Ni) but can use it to evaluate long-term potential when necessary. They are capable of pragmatic problem-solving and efficient thinking (Te) but don't value it for its own sake.
Subtypes
The SP7 subtype of ILE channels their innovative thinking and system-building abilities into a pragmatic, materialistic approach to life. They are exceptionally skilled at networking and forming strategic alliances, creating a "family-like network" or a "good mafia" of connections for personal benefit. These ILEs demonstrate a keen nose for opportunities and an "excessive concern with making a good deal at every opportunity." They exhibit a complex relationship with pleasure and material comfort, often driven by an underlying anxiety about scarcity or potential loss. This can lead to a pattern of constant and relentless search for opportunities. While charming and sociable, their friendliness often has a strategic angle. They may struggle with deeper emotional connections, preferring to focus on tangible, practical matters. ILE-SP7s often have a strong entrepreneurial spirit and are drawn to business ventures that offer potential for material gain and diverse experiences. They're typically resourceful and adaptable, able to spot opportunities and take advantage of them quickly.

The SO7 subtype of ILE channels their innovative thinking and system-building abilities towards idealistic and altruistic pursuits. They have a passionate desire to be perceived as virtuous and selfless, often engaging in "compulsive altruism" as a way of atoning for their perceived selfishness. These ILEs are marked by their strong sense of idealism and enthusiasm, often becoming deeply involved in social causes or humanitarian efforts. They have a strong "sense of mission" and may see themselves as visionaries capable of imagining and working towards a better world. ILE-SO7s can be incredibly effective in rallying people around a cause or idea, using their charismatic ability to inspire and motivate others. However, their constant need to be seen as good and pure can lead to a certain inauthenticity or "fraudulence" in their interactions. They may struggle with acknowledging their own needs and darker impulses, leading to inner conflict. ILE-SO7s often have difficulty setting boundaries and may overextend themselves in their efforts to help others or support their chosen causes.
